Hearts for Home

Leaves are unfurling and flowers budding on the branches of trees awakening from Winter's sleep.
Life is getting busier in the backyard!
Plants are growing and the bees and butterflies are visiting more and more.
Native birds are congregating near the chookyard to feed on scattered seed ..the gleanings of the field!

Our days of longer sunlight are drawing us outside to soak in the warmth and sit quietly under the arbor.
There's work to be done.. vegies to plant out.. weeds to cull.. a path to be laid.
But there's also time to sit.
To take in the rhythm of a slower life.
Time to just.. be.
*
My Hearts for Home focus this week will be:
1. planning which summer vegies to plant out next
2. dealing with the leaf curl on the nectrine tree
3. remembering to keep fresh water up to the hens now that the days are warmer
4. trying to get outdoors for some much needed exercise
5. changing the bedlinens over to lighter weight sheets and covers
6. spend more time in my prayer-closet ..much to give thanks for and folks that need upholding!

Hearts for Home

My- how the days are flying by me at the moment!
With family staying and hubby's erratic schedule, I've got out of routine lately.
I have missed a couple of weeks of joining dear Gae for her Hearts for Home meme..
today is the day to catch up again lol!
My homekeeping focus this coming week is going to be on..
1. harvesting the vegies that ready in the garden
2. helping the Woodman as he attends to sundry things that need fixing around the house
3. taking the hem up on curtains that are too long for the dining room window
4. Throwing out paperwork that is no longer needed and decluttering the filing cabinet
5. preparing the bathroom for the installation of a new vanity and basin
6. praying for clear guidance in my decision-making over the coming days

There is always something to tend to when you are a homekeeper.
I pray that I give my full attention and best effort to each task this week and  - with God's help - improve my level of commitment to creating and maintaining a pleasant home for my loved ones.

Spring arrived in our neck of the woods this week.
Lovely blue skies and warm sunshine are beckoning us outdoors to the garden.
The grass is growing faster.. and the vegies are too :-)
Time to get busy!

My goals for the coming week are:
1. to air the house out after it's winter hybernation
2. change some curtains over to reflect the brighter days
3. Spring clean..as many rooms as possible
4. harvest and dry herbs from the garden
5. centre myself in the Word of God
6. be joyful..in all things!
all is grace..Trish

Hearts for Home

I'm joining Gae again, for her great weekly meme Hearts for Home.
I've been out of routine with this wonderful little reminder that dear Gae provides us with so faithfully!
So hopefully I will be back on track with it from now on :-)
I have a real need this week to:
1. cull more things around the house and open up some space.
2. start preparing the spare rooms for my family who are coming to stay
3. get to bed at a decent time ie. before 10pm
4. watch my food intake and not indulge so much in heavy wintery dishes
5. pray, pray and pray some more!
6. read my Bible consistently and 'religiously' at the set times I need to have in place to bring balance into my days.
***
Gae suggests we look at 4-6 very do-able things every week that enhances the peace, organisation and care of our homes and families.

Wednesday

Some Days..

Some days you just want to stay curled up indoors

and indulge yourself with steaming hot chocolate and something sweet.

Days when your vegetable seedlings are sent sleeping under the downy quilt of sudden snow

and your clothesline has surrendered to the gales of a fierce winter wind.

Yes, on those kind of days you need some sweetness to soothe the mind

and help you to remember that one season quickly passes on to another

and soon enough, you will be taking tea again under the summer shade of a heady lilac hedge.

Let nothing trouble you.
Let nothing frighten you.
For everything passes but God will never change.
Patient endurance will obtain everything
Whoever has God, wants for nothing at all.

My Hearts for Home goal this week is to help the Woodman repair my clothesline, and to look for the chocolate-coated  side of every circumstance that comes my way!!

Hearts for Home~A Wood-burning Stove!

We are getting a wood-stove, yay!!
This is a photo of a wood burning stove that the Woodman spied living under a carport a few streets away from us.
When he first asked if it might be for sale the owner took quite a long time to give him an answer.
2 years in fact !
She didn't seem to know exactly what she wanted to do with it, but has now decided that it can be ours for $500.
It has the tank and all the attachments for heating water included and apparently it was these items that had  held her back from settling on a price.
She thought she might make more money selling them for the copper content.
But..it looks like we shall be remodelling our kitchen and dining area to accomodate this beauty before too long :-)
It will be a new experience to be cooking on it, but we are really looking forward to learning all that we can about using it.
And it will feel so good to have a heating and cooking source that's off-grid!
Our adventurous journey to simplicity continues..

I'm running quite late with my Hearts for Home post this week due to being in town all day yesterday.
But some goals I have for this week are:
1. Getting stuck into my pantry and clearing it out and possibly re-arranging the shelves.
2. Doing the same in the bathroom!
3. Cooking some new dish..my hubby will be grateful for that, I'm sure lol!
4. Spend some intense time with the Lord. There are decisions I need His guidance on.
I pray you are all having a great week tending your homes and families :-)
God bless you..Trish

Tuesday

Hearts for Home

I'm joining Gae again for her weekly home-loving meme, which she graciously hosts to help us focus on our tasks for the coming week.
But I have to tell you..today is so cold and grey, that it's very hard for me to move away from the warm wood-fire to do the housework!
Snow is forecast for our area of eastern Australia, and our mountain is doing it's best to beckon it right now, brrr!
So this means..I must put in real effort to get on with the job of taking care of my home :-)
*
My goals for the coming week will be:
1. to keep on top of the laundry - especially with this unpredictable weather.
2. spend more time reading the Word of God.
3. make sure I have the pantry stocked up with goodies for the Woodman.
4. pay the electricty bill ( I can't wait to get solar connected!).
5. pray for all my friends who are going through a rough time this week.
6. make cheesecake for tomorrow (Shavuot).

Sending blessings from my home to yours ..Trish
